Abraham Rushing was born about 1739 in North Carolina and was living in Anson County, North Carolina, after 20 May 1805. Records and family-tree notes associate him with land transactions in the 1760s through 1790s and with patriotic service during the American Revolution.

Abraham Rushing was born about 1739 in North Carolina, then British Colonial America. A Revolutionary War lineage listing places his birth circa 1739 in Bertie County, North Carolina.

On 15 November 1762, he received a grant of 300 acres. He later received a grant of 150 acres; the entry date is given in the family-tree notes as 24 May 1773.

On 10 June 1776, Abraham Rushing joined his brothers-in-law Lewis, Jason, and Job Meador, along with his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Meador, in selling property that his wife had inherited from her father.

During the American Revolution, Abraham Rushing provided services in 1780 and was paid for services rendered in 1782. A Revolutionary War service listing describes his North Carolina service as “patriotic service” and states that he was paid for services and signed a petition.

In 1789, Abraham gave 100 acres each to his sons William and Phillip “for love and good will.” He purchased 50 acres from Jacob Rushing in 1790 and sold 40 acres to William Rorie in 1792. In 1797, he received a patent for 640 acres of land.

Abraham Rushing was living after 20 May 1805 in Anson County, North Carolina. His death has been placed between 20 May 1805 and July 1806 in the current family record.
